Vegas? Now?

It's always amazing to me what some people will do on the drop of a dime. You've all seen the movies right? Where someone 'just' flies to LA for dinner? Didn't know those people actually existed...

Seriously.

A man we shall henceforth call 'W', like the posh hotel he reminds me of, strolls into my office on a tuesday. This non pixarian inquired what I was doing that night - I had no plans other than my often done-at-the-last-minute-and-I'm-trying-to-stop-that homework.

W explained that he was trying to get a group of people together for dinner, his treat - but there was a caveat - we'd have to leave pixar pretty early. It was too early for my tastes, so I asked where. "Emeril's" (I heard "Emeralds").

After understanding he meant Emeril Lagasse, I inquire, "He has a restaurant out here?"

And thus began the Vegas adventure. It started small, almost climaxed, but evaporated, and came back for a bigger bang the second time around. Translation: we actually got 12 people on a last minute flight to Vegas for dinner. And then there was, er... um, "mechnical difficulty." Unfortunately this difficulty was none other than a burnt out lightbulb on the wing, but alas took over an hour to repair. By that time, we wouldn't have made it to the restaurant before closing and alas, we deplaned, and got refunds.

Vegas take two took place the very next day - and came with a promise of coming home on a flight later that night. Of course things never go as planned, so I landed in vegas (minus one blood glucose meter lost at airport security) for a quick overnight.

We took a 6am flight and rolled back into Pixar the very next morning, ready to roll. I had a massage from 4am - 5am. I had nine courses. I had nine paired wine tastings (I had to skip a few to stay sober - no blood meter meant no drunkie). Good times, good people, good food, good God.

I don't hesitate in telling Mr. W that he is indeed insane - of course, in a very good way.

I did make it thru an entire of work after this adventure, came home, was too tired to cook and tried a new chinese take out place. Let's just say I *won't* be eating there again...
