Reunion

There is this group, http://www.reunionmakers.com

For the search engines:
Chattachoochee High School Class of 1995 Reunion reunionmakers ratings reviews opinions too expensive

Anyone have comments on reunion makers? They seem to be planning a reunion for my high school with no input from an actual graduate. I feel as if they just buy the email addresses off of those reunion websites (eg. classmates.com) and then charge too much money for a little get together. I personally would love an extended happy hour at a local bar in atlanta, hehe. Dinner? Dancing? Not my thing. that would be the PROM.

Anyways, I tried to ask who was planning it and instead the whole email alias/yahoo group got shut down, further reinforcing my belief that no actual graduate had any hand in the planning of the event.

I think it's an excellent money-making scam... but didn't find anything bad about them googling on line. Maybe someone will google and find this message and leave feedback on them!

At my school, it was the senior class president who was in charge of planning all reunions. I don't remember how she tracked me down, but she found me and emailed me directly (and I assume everyone in our class of 620-something who she was able to find). If you can remember who that was, you might be able to track them down and see what's up.

Hey Susan,
It looks as if you had the same idea as me. I started searching google for any information about reunion makers to see what other people had to say about them. This is how I found your statement. I will keep searching the web to see what I come up with and post them - if any - on the new message board. I am also starting a new blog for CHS 2005 so that we will be able to communicate with each other more effectively. Not to mention the search engine crawlers will pick it up.

Reunion Makers has chosen not to be a member of the National Association of Reunion Managers, and they are misrepresenting themselves all across the US. Our Ethics Committee has received numerous complaints about what they are doing.

Signed,
A responsible, ethical reunion planning company!

My husband received something from Reunionmakers for a class reunion. It appears to be a scam. Why would someone that is planning a reunion in Houston, TX hire someone from Oklahoma to take care of the arrangements? Just doesn't make sense to me. I would suggest that anyone wondering if they are having a class reunion contact their old high school or even an old classmate (not through classmates.com) and get the 4-1-1 from someone who knows.

My reunion is in three days. We all got an e-mail today, that it's been cancelled, as reunionmakers.com is closing down.

I just got an email yesterday saying that our reunion in Greenville, SC is cancelled just two days in advance! Was reunionmakers ever a legitimate business? Or is it a scam? I paid about $170 for the dinners.

We just got the same message today too...about Reunion Makers "closing down" - our reunion was supposed to take place on 10/21/06. Maybe they really are going out of business...but why wouldn't they contact me and let me know? I'm their contact! Also, are they planning on refunding our money or is our only chance of recovery to call our credit card companies and dispute the charges? What are we supposed to do?

Hey,
Same thing! The reunion is the day after Thanksgiving and the people planning it got as much notice as all the rest of us- the email that it was cancelled. And no information about refunding the money. Hmmm... If it is a scam, can you say one helluva class action lawsuit!

My wife's reunion was scheduled for 11/25/2006 and they were just notified last friday that it was cancelled and that they were 'closing their doors'. However, if you go to their site you can still sign up and presumably pay. Check out:

We are currently in the process of trying to get our money back. If not there will be a lawsuit.

From the owner of the site, yes, I do believe it was a legitimate business as I've seen other webpages where folks used them and had a 'good' reunion.

However, I just didn't agree with their tactics - basically taking ownership of the event without speaking to the person slated for organizing it (senior class vice president for example).

I don't know what happens when a company goes bankrupt, but I sure hope you all get your money back. Given how many people have to travel to attend reunions, I can't believe more notice was not given.

I just received notification that the money Reunion maker's owed me was included in a bankruptcy. I guess I was lucky that my reunion in August of 2006 actually was held with no problems whatsoever. The only money I am out is the reimbursement of my hotel bill that they had promised me for being the coordinator of my class reunion.
