I seem to echo "I'm
tired" a lot these days! Work is
beyond busy. We've got three movies in production all making requests...
what happened to the days that there were like 10 rendermen???
I'm going to need a GOOD vacation after Hero wraps. I can't even keep up
with laundry anymore. I feel like it's a siggraph deadline all over again
- trying to frantically render frames for all essential video.
Went to Seattle - they've got a new office up there which I actually like
quite a bit more than the old. Bigger, cleaner, still with old world
charm. Plus no hill to get to Salumi ;)
Saw my sweetie, which makes life somewhat more bearable :) Bought new
shoes. No, that does not make me into a non-geek -- they are just new
sneakers! But they still make me happy ;) Have a killer costume for
tomorrow. Bible study has been rejuvenated with new blood. And home
stress is about to be reduced: a roommate and I decided we make much
better friends than roommates.
Chiropractors. I've got
to say that I never thought
I would 'believe' in them. I tried seeing one after getting thrown off a
horse some years ago. He wanted to see me three days a week and virtually
cracked every bone in my body, and I never really felt any different. I
later turned to massage and got a lot more out of that.
When I moved here, someone recommended to me a specific massage therapist
who works out of a chiropractor's office. Knowing that I had seen a
number of crappy doctors over the years, I thought I should give another
chiropractor a try.
Holy shit.
She is awesome. I get these headaches - used to have them all of the
time - where I get a palpable lump right at the base of my skull.
Excruciating. Usually they turn into migraines. Now, Dr. Lisa just
adjusts that one joint and voila: the headache disappears within hours
(with an almost immediate reduction in pain). It's amazing. Having my
neck/spine adjusted helps reduce my muscular knots/tension (which usually
are due to sitting @ a desk typing all day). You should try it ;)
Election day. It's interesting to note that while I live in
a pocket of liberals within a liberal city, there is a strong republican
trend in the rest of the state. I chose to align myself with neither
'side', prefering to choose on the issues, not on the party. I can hardly
completely agree with any party's platform; that's why we are such
individuals. But. Arnold? sigh.
Random user interface design flaw: I got a new insulin pump. Same brand
as the old, yet the old one's screen was the exact reverse of this one.
Ie. I wear it with the screen facing my body. I used to pull it away and
tilt right to read it's display. Now it's tilt left. Amazing how
annoying that can truly be. Design flaw #2: the time is not displayed on
the main screen. They took all of my suggestions about making it act like
an alarm clock, only to make you press a button to get the time. Dude,
these things would be so trivial to fix in software. I would kill for a
patch. In fact, I'd even take my vacation time to code the damn thing.
Please?
