I beg you...

Identify the sock is the game of the day. Yes, I am a freak, I know this.

I have two different styles of socks that have this gold line across the toe, but I have no idea what brand they are or where I bought them. All I know is they are the best socks I've ever owned. I checked my regular haunts to no avail (target, walmart, macy's), but fear perhaps they were purchased on a trip back home (georgia).

Not to be confused with "gold toe" brand socks.... This is where all you lurkers who read my site but never comment come in. Identify the sock and get a free Incredibles DVD!!!

The particular selection of the day is a woman's white crew sock, cushioned (thicker on the bottom), with a tightening around the arch:

The Joys of Home Ownership

I decided to start using the 'category' option to Movable Type to describe things I do to the house :)

So, there is a leak in my roof. It occurs in an unsurprising location: where a roof support and joist meet. I suspect this results in zero flex at this concentrated point of support, surrounded by areas of flex. Unfortunately, I don't seem to see anything wrong with the roof surface (it's flat/easy to inspect). Therefore, after the rain stops (it's a super minor leak), I plan to strip the waterproof membrane over this location to see what I can see. Let me know if you have a better idea ;) I fixed another potential leak (no signs of actual leak when crawling in attic) but apparently that wasn't the root cause of the problem spot at this one joist. Even with like 3" of rain lately, there is only maybe a one inch water line top down on the joist in question, so it's not that big of a deal. Crawling in my 2.5" attic was an illuminating experience. Thankfully, I couldn't see any other problem areas!

I finally, after much searching, found globes for my art deco original wall sconces in the bedroom. I have one sconce that will need to be welded, but alas, the rest look fabulous:

Last but not least I've done some painting. My first color choice for the bedroom turned out a tad light.... thus I added an accent wall. I also have new bedding:

Mom, let me know what you think by commenting on this entry (click "comments (x)"). I can always paint the rest of the room the darker color ;)

I also now regret not attacking my lawn in the fall, pre-rainy season. It really needs to be completely ripped out. It's a patchwork of colors, with a large population of clover and crabgrass. At least it's green? I'll put in on the list for next year...

Lesbian Mothers

Sigh.

I just watched a horrid tv show that epitomizes the ignorance, the crushing hatred that some christians can impose upon others. Christian and gay issues aside, the woman at the heart of it turned out to be a pompous little, erm, woman. Condescending. "I am excellent." "Parenting in an excellent manner means _____."

Wow.

She then followed that with her utter condemnation and lack of understanding of a gay family. Why do people think gay families are promiscious? Why do people think gay families are teaching children immoral things? Isn't it more immoral to teach your children to hate, to discriminate?

As much as I miss the South, part of me loves the diversity of the bay area - and the acceptance of its many facets. It just utterly astounds me the discrimination that persists in its many forms in the US today.
