Take me home... country road....

...to the place, I belong! Okay, so it wasn't quite West Virginia, but I recently spent the weekend camping in Big Basin SP. Wonderful campsite (#79, a walk in site) with lots of space, good separation from the 'neighbors'. The main draw for this park is the forest itself - felt a good deal like the mountains of NC, with bigger trees. I.e. trees so big that they were alive during the Byzantine Empire! A lot of redwoods had huge hollowed out cores where you could easily walk through (or as they used to, drive a car in backwards to make it look like you drove through it!). It makes you feel like a Hobbit of sorts to be so dwarfed in age and size by the vegatation. I almost expected the trees to talk to me LOTR style.

We did the gourmet yuppie car camping thing - bringing two coolers of food and drinks :D Harlie, Julian, & I drove down Saturday morning, and Pei-Lan and Gavin joined us on Sunday.

I love smores, I love the woods, I love a good nap after a long hike. All in all, a GREAT weekend :)

Julian leaves next weekend back to Seattle. I think we survived our month well, and definately learned a few new things about each other.

The servers at work are hanging, thus my midday ability to blog. Wake up archives DB, wake up!

Green containers...

We filled five this weekend, and have enough piles of green schtuff to probably fill five more next! Julian had the unfortunate circumstance of being here about a month before I am hosting an outdoor party for the Georgia Tech Alumni Association... We worked about 4 hours Saturday, and four of us worked another 4-5 hours today. I was able to get some reasonably waged help for a few hours Sunday :)

Thankfully, Oakland has revamped their waste management program and as much as you can contain (your containers or theirs) will now be picked up weekly. So after thursday, I'll restuff them once again for next week.

I also having been shopping around for patio furniture and found a good deal at Target, about half that of any other place checked (Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Home Depot, Ikea, etc.). We also put that together this weekend and enjoyed dinner, cooked by Julian, outside. Have I mentioned I am getting spoiled by his visit here?

The weather has been amazing, sunny and warm. I think summer is finally here!

Houston, we have contact!

So I think I've finally found a bathroom contractor! Still a bit of work to do - review his plans, renegogiate any design differences, etc.

I went and saw his work both at my fabulous realtor's house and her neighbor's house.

This weekend, I attack the yard again. Amazing how much cutting back is required! I am hosting a wine tasting in my wonderful yard in about a month, so now is the time to get it in pristine condition :)
