I bought a new comforter for my duvet. Besides being warmer and much lighter, I also decided I wanted it to stay put in its liner.... so I stitched ribbon loops into the duvet at eight points (four corners & midpoints) and stitched ribbon ties at the same eight points to the comforter.
Mental notes: buy a thimble! It's tough to sewn things into seams!
Anyways, it works great, and I'm glad I did it, but I'd so much rather build shelves or something than sew.
And note to mom: buying the right comforter makes all the difference. My new duvet/comforter is lighter than my old comforter! Both the duvet & comforter are machine washable too.
My boyfriend has stopped blogging, thus I must blog in order to give his family (hi mimi, thanks for the candy!) a little window into his soul. Back in the "crush" days, I thrived on his blog entries, but alas, throw us together for a few weeks and he has nothing to say to the rest of the world. :) Hmm. Not sure if that is a bad or good thing.
Let's see, we spent all of May together, and now just returned from a wedding-anniversary-wedding extravanga. We first attended his friend Jeff's wedding in Orange County, CA. Then we spent a few days at He Who Shall Not be Named in Orlando (he has an utterly ungooglable name so I feel necessary to keep it that way). Lastly, we ended up at Ben's wedding in Tampa, hurricane and all. The anniversary part was ours - spent casually but together in the OC - two years! I miss ya Ben, and was finally pleased to meet, albeit briefly, Laura. Come visit?
Overall, once again we succeeded in many days together without killing each other. I in fact took the grumpiest man on earth to the happiest place on earth, and it was good :) I'm left with a feeling of exhaustion, with a tinge of bliss. I appreciate my days away from work! The bad news is my cell is officially dead - if you know me and can't get in touch with me, EMAIL ME! I think I lost it on a roller coaster! My laptop also went kaput - but the fabulous pixar people (erm, a.u.b.i.e) rescued it as well.
I think alot of people take the IT/systems folks for granted. I think at some point, even I used to. The thing is, at Pixar, the job is so overwhelming. We throw around so much data to make 1/24th of a second of film. It utterly astounds me that it all just works 99.9% of the time. It's a shame that all folks remember is the downtime!
