"...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
"But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." 2 Chronicles 15:7
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." Phillippians 4:13
"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20 NIV

Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion, and the romance in a relationship and find out you still care for that person.

I am really bad about hanging back at times, so this song is a good reminder that if you want any life at all, you'll dive in headfirst. Yes, you risk smacking your head on a rock on the bottom that way, but at least you can say you did it and you tried and you had the time of your life.

We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned
We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned
But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire
We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall
We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all They're so hell-bent on living, walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire
There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide
Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

I was born in Michigan, lived in NC for a short while and then finally settled down where I consider home: Georgia. I am a southerner at heart even if my roots scream Yankee. I went to high school in Alpharetta, GA at Chattahoochee High School. I graduated a few years later from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Now, of course, I am studying at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. At first it was really difficult to make that decision of where to go... my three options were MIT, Georgia Tech and UNC-Chapel Hill. For graphics, there is no better place than Chapel Hill. Plus, Chapel Hill is just a beautiful, laid-back small southern town - where winter means 55 degree highs :)

Music? Everything. (Are you still reading this?!)Literally. Most often you'll find a country CD in my CD player. But I also listen to mainstream (ie. what they used to call alternative), jazz, techno, eighties, dance music, ska, and classical. What I listen to usually depends on my mood :) My favorite radio stations around here are 96 rock, NPR, and the three college stations that precede it on the dial. There is also a good "classic" country station that plays old and new, but I can never remember their station number! Some of my long-time favs include Pearl Jam, the Beatles, Garth Brooks, Jewel, and a few Atlanta "locals" like Evan & Jaron and Memory Dean.

So I used to be a fitness nut, but every since grad school started haven't had nearly enough time to spend at the gym. I really enjoying working out though - lifting weights, kickboxing, etc. I am fairly healthy eater - I love health food, salads, protein bars... and usually feel sick if I eat stuff like heavy italian food or greasy mexican. Although I'm not vegetarian (every once in a while, I crave a philly cheese steak, so I know I'm not!), I rarely eat meat/chicken and never eat fish (personal dislike for me).

I pay a lot of attention to health in general because I am seriously allergic (to everything it seems - trees, grass, flowers, dust, perfumes, paint, certain chemicals), mildly asthmatic, and diabetic. What a combo, eh? As for allergies, they hardly (knock on wood) bother me anymore since I've moved out of the city, and since I completed a few years of allergy shots. I went on an insulin pump several years ago and absolutely love it. I think it is an athlete's best friend! Check out my diabetes page for more info!

I am Christian, and have attended a variety of churches in the past, but tend to prefer the United Methodist Church. In Atlanta I attended Northside UMC and miss it dearly. I haven't really found a church here that I love, but I also believe that religion is a very personal thing. Although I may not attend church every weekend, I do try to have my quiet time. Last spring I found a wonderful twenty-something bible study at University Baptist. If you have any questions about my beliefs, ask! I am the type who doesn't really approach others about religion :)

At Tech, I participated in a thousand different activities, but I'll link my favs (that have webpages) here...
